French Toast - Oven-baked

Ingredients

  • 4 Eggs
  • 200 ml Milk
  • dash Vanilla extract
  • medium Baguette cut diagonally into 2cm thick slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200C (fan).
  2. 1. Mix together the eggs, milk and vanilla extract.
  3. 2. Put the slices of bread in the egg mixture and leave the liquid to absorb for a few minutes on both sides.
  4. 3. Very generously grease a non-stick baking tray with butter. Cook the bread in the oven for 15 minutes, turning the slices over after about 10 minutes.
  5. 4. Leave the slices to cool down a bit. They are likely to have puffed up a little in the oven, but will deflate when they cool.
  6. 5. Serve the toasts warm - with your choice of jams, marmalade, syrup or honey.
